EdSpecialists

Behavioural Support

From the provider: 'Ad Astra - Reach for the Stars' Available from January 2022 A new chapter in the science of human potential - "Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback" You may have heard the term 'The Zone' or 'Flow', typically in reference to athletes and creatives often engaged in high-stakes activities and projects. But did you know this state is equally accessible to each and every one of us? Science now shows that there exists a human state that enables individual peak performance mentally, psychologically and physically, and it can be measured and monitored via the variations between our heartbeats. Put another way, it is expressed in every one of us through the electromagnetic patterns of our heartbeat. EdSpecialists offer afterschool and school holiday training sessions to school-age participants as well as targeted therapeutic style sessions to adults using our Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Biofeedback technology and software to both monitor and affect HRV toward individual NDIS goals. We offer a range of adjunctive therapies in aid of creating a practical tool kit of 'optimizing triggers' that can be used at home and in a variety of environments. If stress or anxiety are an ongoing issue for you or someone under your care we can facilitate access to progress that is measurable. Our motto is 'Ad Astra' - 'Reach for the Stars'. The far-reaching benefits of accessing this data are incredible and include measurable progress in the following domains: Stress and Anxiety - understand how it is happening and how to change it at will, in any environment. These sessions can include the use of take-home technologies and adjunctive therapeutic tools of choice like games, face or hand beauty treatments, massage, ASMR, music, sound and guided breathing. Resetting your 'baseline' - increase coping and resilience; a more intensive approach in aid of shifting chronic depleting HRV states: these sessions require a longer period of time spent in sustained optimal HRV states and are therefore by definition quite relaxing and typically a pleasurable experience. They can include the use of take-home technologies for longer data collection periods and in-house adjunctive therapeutic tools of choice like games, face or hand beauty treatments, massage, ASMR, music, sound and guided breathing. Learning Optimization - achieving the optimal state for learning: one of the many benefits for our young people facing challenges in their learning is that we can find out what tools and strategies are 100% effective for putting them into the state of coherence (*the optimal state for learning) and provide a unique insight that will help them on the path to success in self-regulation. Physical Health - the sports science of peak performance: a series of sessions that teach you how to optimize your psychophysiological state as quickly as possible and 'on the go'. The athletic goal of getting into what is sometimes referred to as the 'state of flow' is one of the more famous practical applications of this science. Emotional Regulation & Challenging Behaviours - a specialized service tailored to your plan and offered by a highly experienced professional in developmental education and challenging behaviours. *Subject to availability * *Testimonials are available. Sessions at our Taringa Office are typically 45 minutes long and a series of at least 4 is recommended in most cases. For a discussion about your individual needs please do not hesitate to call Maree on [phone hidden] or [phone hidden] Heart Math Coherence Assessment - psychophysiology is the scientific study of the interaction between body and mind and research by the Heart Math Institute in America revealed that the state of coherence (often referred to as 'The Zone' or the 'Optimum Zone for Learning') can be measured and tracked by Heart Rate Variability monitors. Coherence is in fact a highly efficient physiological state in which the nervous system, cardiovascular, hormonal, and immune systems are working efficiently and harmoniously. It is simultaneously a measurable physical state as well as a corresponding mental or emotional state (for further reading go to https://www.heartmath.org/research/research-library/). At EdSpecialists, we offer personal sessions, assessment and advice and we are working on an online training platform to meet the professional development needs of educators, to be rolled out in 2022. Our long-term vision is to make childhood a better place for children all over the world through educating their support networks and reinvigorating educational practice.

Finding the right provider is essential for achieving your NDIS goals. Consider these factors:

Cultural & Language Fit

Queensland's diverse community means you can find providers who speak your language and understand your cultural background.

Availability & Flexibility

Ensure the provider can accommodate your preferred schedule, whether weekdays, weekends, or evenings.

NDIS Registration Status

NDIS registered providers meet quality and safety standards. Self-managed participants can also choose unregistered providers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Behavioural Support providers cost in Queensland?

Behavioural Support rates in Queensland follow the NDIS Price Guide limits. Costs vary based on the type of support, time of service (standard hours, evenings, weekends), worker qualifications, and travel requirements. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have greater flexibility in choosing providers and negotiating rates.

What's the difference between registered and unregistered NDIS providers?

NDIS registered providers have met quality and safety standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Agency-managed participants must use registered providers. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose either registered or unregistered providers, giving more flexibility in their choices.

Can I change my Behavioural Support provider if it's not working out?

Yes, you have the right to change providers at any time. Review your service agreement for notice periods and discuss any concerns with your provider first. If you're unhappy with the service, you can end the agreement and find a new provider that better meets your needs.

How do I find Behavioural Support providers who speak my language?

Use the Language filter at the top of this page to find providers offering support in your preferred language. Queensland has providers available in many languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, and more. You can also specify language requirements when contacting providers directly.

What qualifications should Behavioural Support providers have?

All NDIS workers must have a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check. Many hold qualifications like Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or relevant allied health degrees. Specialist providers may have additional training in specific disability types. Always ask providers about their qualifications and experience.
