From the provider: 👋 HELLO! 😁 Dedicated Art Therapist with participants who want to express emotionally through art. I'm also an acredited Counsellor who fully loves the work that he gets to do in the NDIS 🌏 I've worked with participants across Victoria in person as well as online for participants predominately in Queensland 🏞 I understand that approaching Counselling in a traditional neurotypical way does not work with neurospicy folk 😵‍💫 your world is so much more all encompassioning, creative, interesting and vivid 🎨🎤📸✂️💠 ✅️ Therefore, it is my job to show up that way as well. I want your experience of thearputic support to be something you look forward to, not something that feels dreadful or like work. Because meeting with a total stranger for the first time to discuss such delicate matters shouldn't feel challenging. I want our sessions to feel seamless, interesting, engaging, and something that not only helps you meet your goals but helps to build your emotional toolkit. I want you to have those tools long after I have left the session. 💫🌟 You have a 50% part in how your sessions go. I bring my experience, talent, creativity and you bring bravery, creativity, trying and we can adapt together. If you don't like how something is going you let me know and we can change it. I've worked with some amasing people and I hope that we can connect - speak soon! Jake 🌞

From the provider: I offer art classes for adults, who are looking to begin a therapeutic hobby. My sessions are 2 - 4 hours long and cover a wide variety of media and styles, in small groups of up to 10 people. After teaching art in schools for almost 30 years, I now focus on helping adults learn the skills they need to build up their art confidence so that they can enjoy a lifelong hobby. After becoming a widow (by suicide) at the age of 44, I started this business to support and improve the mental health of others. I provide a supportive and relaxed environment where individual learning styles are catered for. I specialise in teaching raw beginners how to get started, by teaching all the best parts of the school curriculum, mixed with mindset work so can also enjoy the therapeutic benefits. These classes are for you if want to develop your creative thinking skills, learn how to use a wide range of art materials but need inspiration and mentoring. My programs are offered on weekdays and weeknights. I also offer weekends workshops on specific topics.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Art Therapy providers cost in Queensland?

Art Therapy rates in Queensland follow the NDIS Price Guide limits. Costs vary based on the type of support, time of service (standard hours, evenings, weekends), worker qualifications, and travel requirements. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have greater flexibility in choosing providers and negotiating rates.

What's the difference between registered and unregistered NDIS providers?

NDIS registered providers have met quality and safety standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Agency-managed participants must use registered providers. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose either registered or unregistered providers, giving more flexibility in their choices.

Can I change my Art Therapy provider if it's not working out?

Yes, you have the right to change providers at any time. Review your service agreement for notice periods and discuss any concerns with your provider first. If you're unhappy with the service, you can end the agreement and find a new provider that better meets your needs.

How do I find Art Therapy providers who speak my language?

Use the Language filter at the top of this page to find providers offering support in your preferred language. Queensland has providers available in many languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, and more. You can also specify language requirements when contacting providers directly.

What qualifications should Art Therapy providers have?

All NDIS workers must have a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check. Many hold qualifications like Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or relevant allied health degrees. Specialist providers may have additional training in specific disability types. Always ask providers about their qualifications and experience.
