About National Positive Behaviour Support

Victoria

National PBS exists to inspire purpose and empowerment for individuals within their community. Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, evidence-based approach aimed at improving the quality of life and reducing challenging behaviours in individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, ASD, and mental health issues. It's designed to foster a better understanding of behaviour and its underlying causes, and to promote adaptive behaviours and skills.

Our Behaviour Support Practitioners through the use of PBS encourage replacing behaviours of concern with more positive behaviours with the goal of gradually diminishing or eventually eradicating the challenging behaviour. We are a team of AHPRA-Registered Psychologist, Provisional Psychologists and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners who use an evidence-based approach to understand Behaviours of Concern and their underlying causes. We will create individualised Behaviour Support plan that builds the bridge to an improved quality of life for the participant, family and supports.

Once the behaviour support plan has been approved, we ensure that all family, care givers and staff are provided training on how to implement the strategies in the behaviour support plan. We continue to communicate with the participant and their team by following up with regular monitoring and data collection to track behaviours, allowing us to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies. If you are interested in receiving behaviour support services, please reach out to one of our friendly team members today.

Please first check out their google reviews - https://maps.app.goo.gl/5FGBRc8cDMZBQFNg7 The only reason you would even consider National PBS is so that you can maintain your behavioural support funding until you can find a decent and reputable company or practitioner to work with. Avoid at all costs if you can. Our experience with National PBS, its management and its support worker reflect the comments of previous reviews. Our assigned behavioural practitioner repeatedly: a) Failed to engage with their client or keep appointments. b) Failed to deliver assigned actions despite repeated verbal and written requests c) Would attend online monthly care team meetings both un-prepared and made little or no attempt to contribute to these meetings. All of this whilst happily billing for the time. After their repeated failure to undertake agreed follow-up actions, I wrote an email of complaint to the behavioural practitioner and the management and aside, from some quick "backside" covering from the behavioural practitioner, received no response from the company or their management in regards to the concerns and issues raised and, unfortunately, the appalling levels of services continued. I could go on but the final straw was the production of a behavioural support report we needed as part of an important NDIS funding review. Big parts of report had been literally cut and pasted from a previous report and contained multiple contradictions that totally failed to reflect the client’s current situation. To put this into context, had the National PBS practitioner done their job properly they would have identified multiple new behaviours of concern as a result of a massive change in circumstances for the young adult involved. Like the previous reviews, National PBS are brilliant at sucking up your NDIS funds without producing the tangible outcomes their clients need. And as the other reviews point out - any complaint or attempt to engage with senior management falls on deaf ears. It's NDIS businesses like National PBS (its directors and the employee who was assigned to us ) that are the reason the NDIS desperately needs reform, more accountability to stop these kinds of business practises.
