I’m currently supported by Disability Services Metro and I want to share a detailed account of why I feel so safe, respected, and genuinely supported here. From the moment I first connected with the team, I never felt pressured to join. Even when they asked me to provide a review, the request was made politely and ethically. They made it clear I have the right to choose, and they reassured me I can leave at any time. That respect for my autonomy immediately put me at ease. I come from a diverse background and have experienced meltdowns and trauma in the past. Before joining, I worried that those parts of me might be misunderstood or overlooked. Instead, I found a trauma‑informed, person‑centered approach that listened first and acted with compassion. The staff took time to understand my communication needs and preferences, and they tailored assessments and supports to match my capacity and goals. That level of individual attention made me feel heard and treated as a human, not a checklist. One of the things that stands out most is how culturally respectful and personalised the support is. Staff were matched to my background where possible, which made daily life feel familiar and comfortable. That cultural connection helped me feel part of a community again — something I hadn’t felt in other services. The team’s knowledge and professional approach consistently met my expectations and supported my independence. Consistency matters, and Disability Services Metro delivers. Having the same support workers regularly helped me build trust and routine. Those ongoing relationships made it easier to manage difficult moments and to work on real goals. Their day program, Supported Independent Living, and respite services are all run to high standards; everything felt organised, safe, and focused on best practice. I’ve studied Cert IV in Disability and I’m currently studying psychology, so I understand what good practice looks like. From my perspective, Disability Services Metro genuinely follows best practice: thorough Participant and Environmental Risk Assessments, clear communication, and capacity‑building that puts choice and control in the participant’s hands. Management is not driven by profit in the way I’ve seen elsewhere they priorities the right support and ethical care. I even met the founder, who is humble and clearly passionate; that passion is reflected in the staff culture. Practical examples matter: staff coordinated with external services when needed, adapted communication methods to suit me, and supported meaningful activities that mattered to me. I felt empowered to make decisions about my life and supports, and that empowerment has been life changing. If you are looking for a provider that offers respectful, culturally aware, trauma‑informed, and person‑centered support, I highly recommend Disability Services Metro. You will be in safe hands with a team that listens, acts with integrity, and genuinely cares about helping you live the life you choose.

I previously lived in one of their Supported Independent Living homes, and overall my experience was very positive. One thing I really appreciated and hope stays the same was how personalised the support was. The team took the time to match me with support workers I could easily connect with, including people from a similar cultural background. That made daily life feel comfortable, respectful, and familiar. One thing I liked and would love even more of is the consistency of having the same support workers. When the same people came regularly, it helped me a lot build trust and routine. Overall, I had a very good experience and felt genuinely supported in a way that respected my culture, preferences, and independence.
