From the provider: ABOUT ME: Hi everyone, I'm Dave! I’ve been working as a Disability Support Worker for the past 2 years, working with teenagers and adults and have just started my own organisation. My employment background is hospitality based, I have 10 years work experience as a chef and 5 years in front of house management both in Australia and the UK. The support that I am offering is focused around the principals of Independence, Inclusion and Oportunity. The one-on-one support I have offered other participants includes safe cooking practices, fine tuning house keeping skills, list writing, grocery shopping, accessing the community safely and locating safe cafe's and restaurants that the participants can feel comfortable going alone, navigating through the community with Google Maps, STA respite holidays to both local and interstate destinations and social interactions. I have my DWES, WWC, First Aid, CPR I have a very strong belief that people living with a disability should be able to enjoy the same things in life that the mainstream community do; this includes travelling and being able to socialise with friends in the community without the need of a family member and, building some independent skills for a better, less isolated, inclusive lifestyle.  THE MISSION: I'm on a mission to support and mentor people living with disabilities and help them step out of their barriers and achieve a fulfilling, independent and social life.  THE VISION: My vision is to deliver a more flexible, personal and enjoyable support service, where the participants and support workers work together to reach and exceed their NDIS goals to create exciting and new opportunities for the future.  THE FOCUS: Stepping Out Support has a focus on creating a more fulfilling lifestyle by providing one on one support to help build key independent living skills as well as a social calendar where our participants can make new friends and connections.  We strive to build on confidence, wellbeing, decision making and social behaviours… Every person living with a disability deserves the right to be treated just as anybody else, I have a strong focus on communicating with the participants as appropriate to their age group, allowing individuals to feel empowered to be who they wish to be on a daily basis.  The focus is more on supporting and mentoring rather than care.   THE GOALS:         To build on the participants capacity to do more of the day to day tasks with minimal assistance and more independence.  As I get more participants with like minded interests, I am going to create a social network where the participants can enjoy making and maintaining social relationships with group activities in the community like; picnics, swimming, sporting activities, lunches, dinners, movies, bowling, mini golf, concerts and trips away.
