Serving Adelaide - Central And Hills, South Australia

From the provider: Hi, welcome to the fourth. I am Cheryl, I have 18 years of experience in child and family and women's health social work. I have completed some training in midwifery, and have more recently commenced my doula training. I have always felt passionate about working with women, and in particular supporting them as they transition into motherhood. I decided to create the fourth after becoming a mother myself, and realising the lack of support for those who, like me, do not necessarily have 'a village'. The fourth was taken from the concept of the fourth trimester, which refers to the 12 week period after birth, and the physical and emotional changes your baby undergoes as he or she adjusts to life outside of the womb, and you adjust to the changes of life as a mother. It's during this time that many women find that they have the least interaction with their health care team and support network, a time where they may need it the most.Holisitic postpartum support means supporting you and your family's emotional, physical and practical needs. This may include-- Birth debriefing  Counselling Building your village, connecting with other mothers and local services Accompanying you to appointments, referral and advocacy Support with newborn care Comforting and care, preparing nourishing meals and snacks, holding your baby so you can take a shower or nap, help with older siblings and more. Counselling services are available in person in your home or via telephone, including- - Pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences, including trauma- Grief and loss in pregnancy, birth or postpartum- Postnatal depression and anxiety- Relationships with partner, other children and family members- Other emotional health issues and concerns around pregnancy and postpartum.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Support Work providers cost in South Australia?

Costs vary based on the type of support, time of service (standard hours, evenings, weekends), worker qualifications, and travel requirements. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have greater flexibility in choosing providers and negotiating rates.

What's the difference between registered and unregistered NDIS providers?

NDIS registered providers have met quality and safety standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Agency-managed participants must use registered providers. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose either registered or unregistered providers, giving more flexibility in their choices.

Can I change my Support Work provider if it's not working out?

Yes, you have the right to change providers at any time. Review your service agreement for notice periods and discuss any concerns with your provider first. If you're unhappy with the service, you can end the agreement and find a new provider that better meets your needs.
