From the provider: P.E.A.S. (operated independently by Catherine Pourreau) was born out of a strong desire to support and advocate for people with disability, to become recognized as invaluable participating members of the work-force and of their community. The aim is to help individuals express more fully their talents, their positive spirit and their creativity. Non-for-profit organisations that service or employ people with disability (and/or mental health issues) often run on a limited capital and rely heavily on carers, volunteers and government support to operate. As a practicing counseling psychotherapist, an art therapist and a somatic practitioner, Catherine has worked with individuals with different types of disabilities and levels of impairment, in private practice and in non-for-profit organisations that offer day programs and employment (Australian Disability Employment Organisations - ADEs). It is clear that a collective unmet need for specialized counseling/coaching support is significantly limiting the potential of these organisations. My role is therefore to provide counseling and mentoring support to individuals who want to create a richer, more independent life for themselves, but need extra support with: strengths-building, identifying their purpose and direction, increasing their motivation, participation and/or productivity. Catherine's skills lies in inspiring and motivating people, and helping them to orient their efforts towards reaching desired future goals. P.E.A.S. Services offered in the metropolitan Melbourne area include: psycho-emotional assistance to young and older adults with disabilities and/or mental health issues that plan to study, are already studying or are working. individual counseling and mentoring support for individuals during periods of change and personal growth. psycho-emotional support for parents and carers. management consultancy. CONTACT P.E.A.S. @ info@psychoemotional.com.au for inquiries and referrals.

From the provider: 👋 HELLO! 😁 Dedicated Art Therapist with participants who want to express emotionally through art. I'm also an acredited Counsellor who fully loves the work that he gets to do in the NDIS 🌏 I've worked with participants across Victoria in person as well as online for participants predominately in Queensland 🏞 I understand that approaching Counselling in a traditional neurotypical way does not work with neurospicy folk 😵‍💫 your world is so much more all encompassioning, creative, interesting and vivid 🎨🎤📸✂️💠 ✅️ Therefore, it is my job to show up that way as well. I want your experience of thearputic support to be something you look forward to, not something that feels dreadful or like work. Because meeting with a total stranger for the first time to discuss such delicate matters shouldn't feel challenging. I want our sessions to feel seamless, interesting, engaging, and something that not only helps you meet your goals but helps to build your emotional toolkit. I want you to have those tools long after I have left the session. 💫🌟 You have a 50% part in how your sessions go. I bring my experience, talent, creativity and you bring bravery, creativity, trying and we can adapt together. If you don't like how something is going you let me know and we can change it. I've worked with some amasing people and I hope that we can connect - speak soon! Jake 🌞

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Art Therapy providers cost in New South Wales?

Art Therapy rates in New South Wales follow the NDIS Price Guide limits. Costs vary based on the type of support, time of service (standard hours, evenings, weekends), worker qualifications, and travel requirements. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have greater flexibility in choosing providers and negotiating rates.

What's the difference between registered and unregistered NDIS providers?

NDIS registered providers have met quality and safety standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Agency-managed participants must use registered providers. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose either registered or unregistered providers, giving more flexibility in their choices.

Can I change my Art Therapy provider if it's not working out?

Yes, you have the right to change providers at any time. Review your service agreement for notice periods and discuss any concerns with your provider first. If you're unhappy with the service, you can end the agreement and find a new provider that better meets your needs.

How do I find Art Therapy providers who speak my language?

Use the Language filter at the top of this page to find providers offering support in your preferred language. New South Wales has providers available in many languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, and more. You can also specify language requirements when contacting providers directly.

What qualifications should Art Therapy providers have?

All NDIS workers must have a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check. Many hold qualifications like Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or relevant allied health degrees. Specialist providers may have additional training in specific disability types. Always ask providers about their qualifications and experience.
