St George & Shore Visiting Nurses provides in-home nursing and care support to people living with disability under the NDIS, to older people, to veterans and war widows, to people with an acquired brain injury or spinal cord injury, and to people recently discharged from hospital. Its community registered nurses, assistant nurses and care workers deliver personal care such as showering, toileting, dressing and grooming; light cleaning, washing, linen changes and shopping; light meal preparation and help with nutritional needs; wound care including compression bandaging and negative pressure therapy; continence, urinary catheter and colostomy care; and medication administration and management.
Registered nurses also carry out home care needs assessments, and staff follow through the prescribed treatment plan after early hospital discharge. Respite is offered for carers who need time away, and live in care is available. Support is available on a short-term or ongoing basis in the client's own home.
