Australian Camps Association - People Outdoors

David recently attended The Y Camp @ Yarramundi in June 2024 which is run by People Outdoors .(Friday to Sunday ) David was so excited leading up to the Camp. The process from start to finish was made so easy with support of the great friendly staff who supported David / Staff in all ways needed . A week prior to the Camp , David was visited at home by two staff members , Nick and Jen who were supporting David while on Camp. Prior to coming to the House they had read all David's Files which were required and knew so much about David prior to meeting him which built that great rapport with David from the start . This was a great chance to see David's Routine and ask any question, they had in regard to Davids ADL's . The weekend of the Camp arrived . David basically looked like he was moving out as he was all packed up for a great weekend away . The Activity Programs were adapted to David's Needs, and he had so much fun . David was observed to be exhausted when staff picked him up on Sunday from Yarramundi . ( He slept well that night ) We received Photos of David's experience at the Y Camp. David and Staff would like to thank everyone within People Outdoors / Y Camp for their Support throughout the whole experience . David is definitely looking forward to going to his next Y Camp. The camps are amazing

I've been a camper for People Outdoors in Victoria for 3 years now (4 if you count this year), and they know how to give me the adrenaline, adventure and vibes I deserve hit a few downsides, but that's nothing compared to others times I've been on 10 camps now, lowest I've ever rated outta 10 was 7.5 and my highest rating 10+, I am so in it for the long run with People Outdoors for years and years I do, question something though but that pretty irrelevant all and all I'm excited for what's next or new.

My 15 -year old son has been on 2 camps with People Outdoors in the last 12 months. He loves them. Even with his limited verbal skills, he is able to say to say to me each time that I've picked him up (and for days afterwards), "I had fun at camp!" The staff are very good at communicating with me before, during and after camps. They provide photos of what my child got up to during his time. And this is really helpful as he doesn't have the ability to communicate such things to me. I highly recommend them.

The dancing. Likes the friendships with the participants and volunteers.

Review Update My daughter loves the volunteers at people outdoors, she finds peer interaction difficult but having the volunteers of all ages gives her the opportunity to feel part of a friendship group. We love turning up at drop off and hearing lots of different people calling her name and making her feel so welcome. They were fantastic. Great communication with the family about what they did. What I loved most was they made a diary with photos of what they've done. My son is non-verbal so to see what he did and to see him happy is wonderful. The carers were great. They were really caring.

My son went on camps for a few years. He loved them. Well coordinated, they gave a book of what he did everyday with photos – very well done. Since NDIS, the out-of-pocket price becomes too much – I'm really unhappy about this.

Amazing organisation that runs fantastic camps. Always great staff that put 110% into the camps being super fun, safe, supportive and active adventures.

My son has autism. We found out about People Outdoors through our previous case manager. They were very good and very helpful. They provide volunteers to give individual support to the campers, which is great as it gives our family a chance to have a break. My son loved it and is always asking me to book again. Has limited language skills. They have a lot of different programs and are very good for people with disability. The campers get to improve their life skills, such as communicating with their peers and learning to be independent. My son has limited language skills and the camp really helped him.

•Well organised •Great mentoring/buddy system •Variety of recreational activities •Fantastic feedback in the form of a written daily diary kept by buddy along with photos. •Even though our son is currently going through puberty and all the behaviours that that brings with it, we were never made to feel that he was not welcomed. Excitingly he even made a friend😊

I like the activities they organized. The camp buddies are nice, young, funny, helpful, and thoughtful. I love the food, art and craft.

Could not ask for a better organisation. People outdoors are amazing, when my son goes on camps I don't have to worry about him. They take such great care of him. The volunteers are amazing taking the time out to go on camps with such special children its just show's that are still great people out there in the world I take my hat off to the amazing people that do this I thank you very much. People outdoors I thank you very much for making my son so happy. A very professional company and very through with the information they gather.

People Outdoors have made joining their organisation easy and fantastic experience. They have been amazing with my daughter. The very first camp she went on i was a bit scared but she came back all happy, singing and dancing out of the bus so i knew she had a fantastic time. All the workers, volunteers and other children that attend these camps are amazing people and i am so grateful to find a wonderful organisation like this one. They are very supportive, helpful, considerate and accommodating to our needs. Even if my daughter misses out they will do their best to keep her in line for the next camp. Amazing organisation so keep up the good work and looking forward to many more camps and activities for my daughter. Ps: i love receiving the diary and photos after the event so i can keep track of what they were doing and great memories. Thank you People Outdoors. Well Done!!

My teenage asd son had a fantastic time recently on a weekend outdoor pursuits camp with people outdoors. The staff could not have been more helpful or caring and the whole experience was easy to organise and was covered by his ndis package (with a small out of pocket expense). I highly recommend this organisation and hopefully he will enjoy more a activities with them in the future.
