MSWA is a non-profit organisation supporting people who live with neurological conditions across Western Australia, including multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease and acquired brain injury. It was formed in 1972 by a group of people with multiple sclerosis and today employs almost 1,000 care, allied health and clinical staff, with nine services centres in Perth and regional Western Australia.
Services cover physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, dietetics, exercise physiology and counselling, alongside nursing, support coordination, in-home and community support work, employment support, peer groups, day programs and supported accommodation. Allied health is delivered at a services centre, at home, at a local gym or pool, or by telehealth. Income from fundraising, government grants and other programs is put back into supports and research.
