All positive reviews for this awful company are fake. Management is incompetent and uncaring. They treat their clients as inconveniences to be shunted around, pushed into a one-size-fits-all category and given only the bare minimum of support. Their workers are also treated like garbage, with most of the experienced and dedicated carers Melba inherited from DHS having been forced out by their poor treatment. Now there's just a revolving door of transitional casual staff who do not know the clients well enough to be able to anticipate their needs and won't be staying long enough to learn. Pathetic.

Melba have 24hr oncall service which is good. Not many services have that. Someone always on the phone if I’ve ever needed them. Even at 2am the staff are pleasant and carry out their duties. They could improve by turning up on time more often. Everything else is good.

I have a carer with Melba, they met with me to help get to know me so they could match me with the right person. The worker is wonderful – she's not so different from me which is great. She's about the same age so we can talk about things we have in common. When I was upset, I was able to call Melba and they listened to me. They're all really nice and understanding.

My son gets support from Melba, previously we had support More Care and would have 3 carers come on 3 different days. I was told Melba would do the same, hasn't done nearly as many things. I was told nothing would change with Melba, the Melba workers are writing things in the book, but they aren't. That annoys me. My son needs help to get motivated, that's why his there. He's not getting the care. I'm happy that carers are onsite to help him, but only 2 are really good. The others are just taking him to the shopping centre - this isn't community access. My son needs help to get motivated, that's why his there. He's not getting the care. He needs more support than that. In saying that, my son seems to be coming into his own - the units are beautiful and he's learning things all the time. Sometimes they give him carers who he doesn't relate to. They are looking for someone new for him now though. Since I've told them I'm not happy, I've been getting lots of phone calls.

I've been involved with Melba in 30 years, my son is a client. In the last 10-11 years they've been fantastic, with new management things have really improved. They listen, they involve me in my child's life. They listen to my concerns and my son is put first. They've been very accountable and inform me of any incidents. As a parent of a person with a disability that's the most important thing. My son has been quite unwell this year, and the support I got from Melba was fantastic - They were in constant contact with me. Can't complain! I can't speak highly enough of them. It's nice to know if I drop off the planet, he'll be well looked after and advocated for.

Melba's rights and person centred approach is perfect for our values and for my son. The staff are responsive and caring. Melba genuinely respond to the needs of individuals and we appreciate that enormously. Their initiatives such as the Human Rights Road Show are inspiring.

Melba is very committed to doing what is in the best interests of my son. They provide excellent care and the staff take the time to get to know him and us as a family. This enables them to provide excellent support to my 22 year old son.
