Farm the Calm is a therapeutic education service providing enhanced learning outcomes and community connection opportunities through positive interactions with a registered therapy dog. Ravel engages with people of all ages providing comfort and support whilst people tackle their learning or social engagement challenges. At Calm the Farm we create a detailed individualised plans to ensure each participant are not only clear on what they can achieve but also able to review and track their improvements, we understand that large gains can feel small in a neurodiverse world and work hard to ensure our participants remain engaged and celebrate their achievements by keeping the program fun and diverse Learning overwhelm is unfortunately common with many students, a case of the “I cants” can stop an otherwise capable learner in their tracks.
Utilising 25 years of experience in education Farm the Calm has strategies to reengage a learner who has become overwhelmed and equally provide early childhood participants with the tools they need not only to function but excel in the classroom. For a school readiness participant a plan may include the basics of role playing the structure of a school day, introduction to letters & numbers, understanding empathy and turn taking or attending the grounds for physical familiarisation.
