Reptile Encounters

Support Work

NDIS Registered

From the provider: As a society we are disconnected from nature. The advent of technology has changed the way we live, it has changed the way we interact and it has jammed a wedge between us and nature. Children, from the time they are born, are now inundated with technology. It has gone well beyond the 30 minutes of watching Playschool that was the norm a generation ago. At the same time we have been disconnected from our world and nature, the state of the planet has declined at quite a rapid rate. The threat of climate change is at our door. We are on the precipice of a mass extinction. Now if as a society we are disconnected from nature, we are not going to have the impetus to want to protect the planet. I started Reptile Encounters because I want to give students the chance to connect with nature. I believe that people need to have that ‘inspire’ moment to be able to make the connection for themselves. By meeting animals in the flesh we engender a respect for our environment and equip students to make a difference!

From the provider: Sapphire Support has quickly become a well-established boutique NDIS Service Provider on the Sunshine Coast region for: Supported Independent Living (SIL) Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Community Participation (CP) Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) Assisted Daily Living (ADL) The Sapphire Family is made up of individuals who have extensive experience in the disability field. Everyone from the General Manager, Service Coordinators, our Senior in-house Registered Nurse through to our HQ and maintenance team know our clients on a personal level. Our family members also have personal connections and lived experience with loved ones who have a varying range of disabilities. We believe the best approach to superior client care and independent living is born from inclusion and a person-centred focus, resulting in clients living their best lives. Client Testimonial: "Our daughter started her journey with Sapphire Support with severe depression and anxiety. She would not engage with health professionals or support workers. We first engaged Sapphire for respite care, which she just loved. After such a successful encounter she decided to use Sapphire Support Workers for her everyday care. This has been very helpful and she has become much more outgoing and engaging in lots of activities in the Community. Her Support Workers have been matched to her likes and have always been prompt and professional. Today she is living in Sapphire Support SIL Accommodation and is developing into a productive individual, looking after herself and working in outside employment. Her needs are being met on a daily basis; she has gone from being desperately unhappy to a much more satisfied and content person". --Lynne & Geoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Support Work providers cost in Queensland?

Support Work rates in Queensland follow the NDIS Price Guide limits. Costs vary based on the type of support, time of service (standard hours, evenings, weekends), worker qualifications, and travel requirements. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have greater flexibility in choosing providers and negotiating rates.

What's the difference between registered and unregistered NDIS providers?

NDIS registered providers have met quality and safety standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Agency-managed participants must use registered providers. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose either registered or unregistered providers, giving more flexibility in their choices.

Can I change my Support Work provider if it's not working out?

Yes, you have the right to change providers at any time. Review your service agreement for notice periods and discuss any concerns with your provider first. If you're unhappy with the service, you can end the agreement and find a new provider that better meets your needs.

How do I find Support Work providers who speak my language?

Use the Language filter at the top of this page to find providers offering support in your preferred language. Queensland has providers available in many languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, and more. You can also specify language requirements when contacting providers directly.

What qualifications should Support Work providers have?

All NDIS workers must have a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check. Many hold qualifications like Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or relevant allied health degrees. Specialist providers may have additional training in specific disability types. Always ask providers about their qualifications and experience.
