I’ve been with yooralla having had a terrible experience somewhere else. I have do employment with them. They’ve been fantastic. They’re nice, the staff and workers are laid back and they keep me at ease. That’s what I like about that place. They me sure I get looked after with my pay and that my well-being is taking care of.

We've fairly satisfied with Yooralla. The NDIS has made everything more complicated and I think Yooralla is feeling it the same as us. We've been with them for a number of years. The NDIS has made their services harder to deliver because of the administration. We've had some issues with accounts that came through from them. We're grateful for the services though. The dedication and commitment is beyond a monetary value and we don't think the staff get as much recognition as they should. They are part of our family and we feel supported by them. They are very committed to our daughter.

Yooralla is a good service. They help me plan out staff. They are friendly. I'd like to see more staff so we can do more outings.

I access community activities and programs like woodwork, hair & beauty and maths & language & cooking. Staff are helpful. They could improve by doing more activities with more staff support.

We were advised by a parent to switch over to Yooralla after a merger with a smaller organisation which was going bankrupt. The parents we spoke to thought Yooralla being so large would have many resources that would flow through to clients; this didn't occur. Changes to the service that we saw included putting 23 adults clients into 3 small rooms, 2 with wheelchairs, which I felt was inappropriate. Staff were excellent, but had limitations with what they could do. When we eventually left we were asked to pay for time that our son had not been in attendance - very disappointing.

Response from Yooralla

Thank you for your feedback about your experience at Yooralla. We ’d like to know more about the circumstances to be able to better understand and respond to your concerns. In our Community Hub & Supports service Yooralla provides a ‘hub and spoke’ model of community-based supports for people with disability, where every individual is encouraged to pursue their goals by accessing skills-based learning, recreation and social activities. This means there are times when people with disability at the service are supported to be out in the community, and then at the start and end of their day they come together at the Community Hub. If you’d like to discuss your concerns further we encourage you to contact our Customer Relations Team on [phone hidden], feedback@yooralla.com.au or here http://www.yooralla.com.au/other-pages/contact/feedback.

Time Between the occupational therapy referral and service is quite lengthy. More examples of supports and strategies would be great.

Yooralla Art Circles: I love Arts Circle as it has opened a new experience for my brother that we never knew existed. We have attended exhibitions to celebrating my big brother the artist and his wonderful friends and mentors. He has sold paintings and gets such a buzz out of connecting with the community. One of his oldest friends is also in the Arts Circle and it's just great to see them exhibiting together 40+ years later! He's the happiest man I know and it's so great he can explore his creativity in such a supportive environment. Enrichment through artistic expression is a true joy.

Yooralla support workers. My daughter has used support for swimming and gym work with Yooralla over 6-7 years - very happy with services.

So far I have been disappointed with their service in the my region. My son's case manager has been inattentive - she didn't even tell us she was going on holidays and when we called up to change something we were told she wasn't even there and we'd have to wait! I have been lucky to get bits of respite here are there from other organisations - they didn't offer me anything else. When NDIS comes to my area, I will be self-managing my son's plan.
