Wellways

I love Wellways and how they're helping other people. I've done the Wellways course, Caring for Carers. I've got a lot of time for Wellways with how they've helped myself and my partner navigate the NDIS. The people there are so caring. The company in the groups is great, I'm a bit disappointed that they aren't doing the art show this year – they are running art programs though.

I love Wellways – the help, the organisation, everything! I had been isolated for over 20 years and they have helped me get out and about. I've been going to the coffee groups in Frankston which are sadly stopping now. They've also suggested other services for me which has been great as well. The staff are beautiful people – they're great. The staff are so helpful in every way you can think of. I've come out of my shell so much since going to the groups and feel confident to talk.

I've been going to the gardening group and the coffee group in Frankston at Wellways. They're really good, I've made friends through the group - and see one outside of the group now as well. They're a great way to socialise and get some exercise - the coffee group isn't just sitting around drinking coffee, after coffee we go for a walk which I've enjoyed. I use to be reluctant to go for walks by myself and with my dog but since the group, I feel more confident to go for walks by myself and be out in public.

I sincerely do not know how I would have got through the past 6 months without my case worker (Rosebud office) by my side. She has been such an amazing support to my family and myself. I wish I was able to see her more often as my need especially at the moment is so high. Thank you to my case worker and Wellways, you guys are amazing.

Wellways - ACT I used to refer to these guys as a Coordinator in Canberra. They're really flexible and have really good ideas for supporting people in innovative ways. I was working with a young bloke with really high anxiety – they took their time to find out what he was interested in and then were flexible enough to have a peer worker to do the activities he wanted/what excited him. They are fantastic at supporting the carers of people they work with also – to get information to support their loved-one.

My 15 year old daughter, my only child, was bullied to the point of organised gang rape and then took her own life less than 2 years later. During my early months of grief, Wellways was a huge support. She would come to my house, which was fantastic, because if it was up to me to go to her I know I would struggle to keep those appointments. When she visited she would do whatever I wanted ... sometimes we'd just chat, sometimes we'd make goals, sometimes we'd sort areas of my house, and she helped me put my daughter's ashes into her urn. It was just great to have someone who would just be there for me without judgement, someone who would just listen.

[Wellways Frankston] My son has a mental illness and has joined the Wellways football program. They've been very understanding, patient, and supportive of him. The coordinator in particular has encouraged the others to work really well with my son and because of this effort the other members have all responded really to him. I couldn't overestimate my appreciation of them and the support they've provided, not just for my son but for the positive difference they've made to others who are disadvantaged and vulnerable.
