I am a certified yoga/meditation and music teacher specialising in piano. I started learning piano when was 6 years old and was accepted into Brighton secondary schools special interest music program where I majored in the piano, cello and music theory. From there I travelled the world and after experience met people from all over the world. After coming back I experienced mental health issues myself and focused and divulged myself in yoga and music.
From there I have completed multiple yoga, meditation and music diplomas; and have taught each separately for several years. I then decided to combined all 3 of my passions/work together to create a holistic music therapy to really help people who suffer from mental health issues as well as disabilities such as dementia, MS, autism and motor neurone disease. It brings me so much happiness and fulfilment in seeing major life improvements and happiness in my clients.
Music therapy is used to aid in physical discomfort by improving respiration, lowering blood pressure, improved cardiac output, reduced heart rate and relaxed muscle tension. For mental health, this form of therapy is great for reducing stress' common negative side effects, such as emotional and behavioral problems. Yoga's incorporation of meditation and breathing can help improve a person's mental well-being. Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention; and sharpens concentration.
Therefore the combination on all three practices of yoga, meditation and music have life changing effects on people with neurological and behavioural ailments, having life changing outcomes and goals which participants can take with them for the rest of their lives.
