I have been so happy with our service. The people from HenderCare have always gone above and beyond and done so much to help my family. Can't thank them enough.

I have received home help through DVA for the past 5 years; nearly all service providers are efficient and easy to get along with. Hendercare is the exception; on the second visit from their worker I asked for some ironing to be done and was told "I hate ironing and if I knew it was involved I would never have taken this job" ***ironing was included in the service home care plan*** When I questioned this with Hendercare I was advised that small flat items could be ironed however shirts etc. were out of the question. I think it is false advertising to include ironing in the list of services if it cannot be provided. Needless to say I am looking for another service provider

Things started well with a thorough meeting, but when it came to rosters of regular staff, there were challenges. Numerous errors were made (no staff when there should be, people coming when they shouldn't), a regular staff member left and I wasn't informed, nor was a replacement found, and calls were not returned. The people who provided support were great, but communication issues made it all too hard. Hope things improve.

I am a plan manager and referred two clients to Hendercare recently. The experience was fantastic. I contacted in the morning for some emergency support and by the afternoon they the next two days covered and one locked in for permanent shifts. Management were very thorough in meeting the client and making sure they knew what they needed.

SA Review Hendercare has caused a lot of problems for us. The home staff we have from them are good, we've had them from years and have no complaints, however administration has been amazingly bad. We always know from the workers when they need a break, as they tell us themselves. However Hendercare admin never provide us with support in lieu, or even tell us that the worker won't be coming. Historically, they've never responded well to us raising issues, or understood our needs. We contact them and tell them about changes in our schedule and they deny getting correspondence, or admit afterwards that they got it – but don't apologise. Their administration is a total mess. While they can be very apologetic if replacement staff aren't arranged (and we're left without support) – changes and lack of staff really disrupt our lives and it seems that they aren't ever rectified. I'm very disappointed with them – and can't rely on their services. The only reason we have dealings with them is that we love the workers we have and we don't want to lose them.

SA Review At the start I was able to dictate my own supports – and they were great. The manager I dealt with here was good. One of my coordinators went away, however, and I didn't get along well with the new coordinator. I felt the new coordinator wasn't listening to me, and carers were being sent to support me when they were unwell. I had to resolve these issues myself, along with some other things. I ended up going to another service. I think some of the carers need a bit more training and support to understand respecting the client in their houses.

SA Review At the beginning I had a bit of trouble finding the right carers for me, however my current carer is absolutely fantastic – She helps with everyday tasks and supports me at the gym. I would rate her 5/5. Unfortunately we have had some trouble with other carers at HenderCare being half-hearted in their job, especially around supporting myself with hobbies.

Review Update They are very flexible with changing hours and working around my schedule. The care is great. The carers have recently started helping with filing and sorting my accounts which has been very helpful. The staff are happy to do whatever is required at the time – e.g. helping with cooking, cleaning or book work. First review – 3 Star March 15, 2018 I can struggle to get all my housework done - so I used to have Hendercare workers come in and clean for me. While they were happy to clean anything I asked - they said they were unable to do things like moving chairs when they mopped the floor - I think because of govt. rules like manual handling? I also had to ask them to clean some things (like my walls) - which they didn't do otherwise. I ended up changing to a cleaning service instead.

SA Review I am very happy with the consistency I have had with HenderCare. I have had the same carer since the beginning. My carer really understands my personality and my needs – which is extremely helpful when I am feeling fatigued. When I first began with HenderCare I would have loved to have received more information about the services they provide – as I had no prior knowledge about them or their services.

SA Review They tried their hardest but couldn't help me with what I needed. I had one carer here that was really great, but then they moved on. The manager came and chatted with us until they found another good fit of carer for us. But the carers kept moving on – and we wanted consistency. We ended up stopping services.

SA Review Have been using Hendercare since February 2017 (once I was discharged from hospital after a 3 month stay). The first person they sent me didn't go very well as she complained to the coordinator about me and I had to find that old out through the coordinator. Where she could come and talk to me. And we both decided that I didn't and she didn't want to work with me. They then sent out another worker and we hit it of immediately. It started of that she would come once a week. Then in November 2017 I moved into my own place. So it went from her coming to see me twice a week instead of once a week. She even gave me her phone number and told me I could contact her any time for anything. She left working with Hendercare in December of 2017. But we still keep in touch. I went without a Hendercare worker from then (12/2017) until recently (4/2018). And the new worker and I also seemed to hit it of. So much so, that her first shift with me will be 17/4/18. And like the first worker we seem to have a reasonable amount in common. And I still keep in touch with the first one reasonably regularly. I'm glad that my LSA worker talked me into giving an other worker ago. So all in all, I have been and am happy pretty happy with Hendercare
