Breakaway Toowoomba is a not-for-profit disability provider in Toowoomba, Queensland, started in 1986 by local parents as a respite service for families of children with disability. It offers supported independent living and specialist disability accommodation, in-home and community support work, day programs, a Friday night social group, and short and medium-term respite at Breakaway on Bridge in Wilsonton. Supports are co-designed with participants and families, and the organisation also provides attendant care for eligible NIISQ participants. A registered nurse acts as clinical lead for the supported accommodation, and the organisation reports over 35 years alongside families and carers.
